Excelsior 2: The Adventure Continues!

I'm moving. Well, virtually. I like the editor and the pages option in wordpress better, what can I say? If blogger adds more features maybe I'll be back, but until then, update your bookmarks. This page will still exist as archival material, and who knows maybe I'll be back. But the volume 2 is located at http://seapeanut.wordpress.com

Me, Myself, and Sarah

You and me-- all that lights
upon us, brings us together
like a fiddle bow drawing
one voice from two strings
~Rilke

It all started when my name was on a poem by her, us both being in this magazine, us both being named Sarah. We dedicated our copies to ourselves, to each other. I guess it probably started before then, like when we met in poetry class, or when i gave her my mittens. We travelled together to Stratford, Ontario in 2001 and had a great time. We were separated by time and space, but reunited via e-mail, and in person in 2007. We still refer to each other as each other, and it's party a joke, but it is also partly true. We are kindred.

The Unbelievable Pizza Party

"make sure they can see your shoes" was the direction after i'd been clambering around the hillside in heels while Becky took a picture...

So there were were, standing around between the train tracks and the river in the South Side, talking and eating pizza. It had past the point of dusk to become dark, and we were having a good ol' time. No alcohol involved. Max said: If the cops showed up for some reason, they'd never believe we weren't drinking. Yes, Officer, it's just a Pizza Party. Yeah, I said, it'd be like saying this is an icecream social. Anyways, we had fun. It was Sheena's idea to get pizza and eat it somewhere outside because there wasn't any place we could think of that could seat 18 people together. We also met another Max, this one a bulldog, not a human being.

Pittsburgh Play Date 2 (Sarah and Mariza at Dan Marino Field)

Like I said in Kate & Sarah's Playdate at Frick Park, twenty-five is definitely not too old to play at playgrounds. Mariza helps me prove it at Dan Marino Field's playground in South Oakland.
Now I know my ABC's

I wonder if I can slide down backwards...
The aftermath of sliding down backwards
Mariza climbs the bigger sliding board
Peek-a-boo
Who's in there?

A Tree as Lovely as a Poem

This past weekend, my Grandfather moved into his new house. The first thing I noticed about the new house was the tree in the front yard. "That looks like a climbing tree," I thought to myself. "Can I climb your tree?" I asked my grandfather. "As long as you don't break any limbs" (mine or the trees?). My Dad assisted and documented the adventure. I tried another tree in the backyard, but the bark was rougher and I was in shorts, and after I started bleeding, I decided to discontinue the attempt for the time being. Next time, pants, and...the tree!
Dad ("i've been climbing trees since before you were born") couldn't resist taking a turn!

My Homepage

There is a link to my webpage somewhere on the left sidebar here, but I wanted to give a heads-up about my new GooglePages webpage. This is basically a central point to connect all the aspects of my web presence. I like to fool around with web design, using both programming (like HTML and javascript) and various webpage editors. The Googlepages editor (which is in beta) is basically a WYSIWYG editor, but you can also adjust some HTML within sections of the webpage through the editor. The address it http://seapeanut.googlepages.com On the right hand side of the page are links to my various non-googlepages pages. On both the top and bottom of that front page are links to the new sites I've made on Google pages. These are my CV, my published Writing Portfolio, my Travelogue, my Tribute page (coming soon), and Links.

Public Reading

I had a public reading on 12/29/2006 at the Art Gallery on campus. Above is a picture of me in action. I read the following of my poems: "Sensory Recall," "Grandma's House on the Ohio River," "Whirling Towards Ecstasy," and "Nettle and Dock." Below, is a picture of me after the reading, greeting my adoring fans (haha, just kidding).
